Migration advice for moving from on-premise servers to cloud

Cloud is more than renting a VM

Renting a virtual server is easy; running it safely is not: patching, firewalls, backups, monitoring, handling the disk that fills up at midnight. SYSMAN provides both the infrastructure and the operations team behind it.

What the service includes

  • Virtual servers (VPS): Linux or Windows, sized to your needs

  • Storage: SSD volumes, object storage for files and backups

  • Network: virtual private network, static IPs, firewall, VPN back to your office

  • Optional management: OS, web and application servers, databases, monitoring

When should you move to the cloud?

  • On-premise servers are old or about to go out of warranty

  • Staff work from many locations and need reliable access

  • Demand changes seasonally and you need to scale fast

Not every system should move to the cloud. SYSMAN compares multi-year total cost of cloud vs. on-premise before recommending.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?+

The location of the infrastructure and data is set out clearly in the technical proposal and the contract.

Is there an uptime commitment?+

Yes. The uptime commitment is written into the contract's SLA.

Can we move systems over one by one?+

Yes. The usual approach is to move the lower-risk systems first, keep a VPN between cloud and office during the transition, then move the critical systems.
